Honorable Bernice B. Donald is a Judge with the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. She previously served as a United States Bankruptcy Judge 1988 to 1996 and as a judge in Tennessee's General Sessions Criminal Court, Division IX from 1982 to 1988.
Judge Donald received her J.D. degree from the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, and was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 1979. Currently she serves on the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association and is a member of the National Bankruptcy Conference. She is Past-President of the Association for Women Attorneys, the National Association of Women Judges, and is a Director of the Memphis Bar Association, and a member of the Ben F. Jones Chapter of the National Bar Association. She also served on the ABA Council of Racial and Ethnic Justice and a member of the American Bar Association House of Delegates. Judge Donald is a faculty member of the Federal Judicial Center and the National Judicial College, and has lectured frequently for local, state, and national bench and bar organizations on a wide variety of topics. Judge Donald has also lectured in Russia, central Asia, and eastern Europe.
